Client | GoodBookery, LLC GoodBookery is a collaborative self-publishing enterprise that allows people to co-create books by contributing stories around a similar topic or theme. The full website experience will launch in 2011. In the meantime, visit the GoodBookery blog and become part of the community. Allegro Design was involved in logo design, business card design and key messaging around the brand, including tagline development. After an exhausive exploration (scroll down for sample sketches), the octopus emerged as the perfect symbol to communicate the idea of collaboration. The many-armed, intelligent creature also happens to spit out ink on occasion! The harmony created between the arms and pages of an open book made for a perfect visual solution. Custom typography was created to create synergy between the graphic and words.
Below are sample sketches and exploratory notes for the logo development. I start with word lists and then find connections between seemingly disparate ideas until a solution emerges.
